The 5% off voucher at the top of this page is the lead offer for BuyWinesOnline. It takes 5% off any wine order when you apply the code at checkout and is best for small to medium carts of mixed items that are not in the clearance sale. The clearance sale, labelled up to 86% off selected wines, is best if the exact bottles you want are included in the selected list.
Very small baskets, under $50: use the 5% off voucher. The code applies to any wine order site only, so on a $40 order the code takes 5% off, giving a final price of $38 and a saving of $2.
Medium baskets, $50 to $200 with mixed items: the 5% off voucher still usually wins unless every item is in the clearance selection. For example, on a $120 order of non clearance bottles the code takes 5% off, reducing the total to $114 and saving $6.
Buying selected clearance wines: check the product pages for the clearance price first. Clearance reductions are applied on selected wines only and can be as much as 86% off. If you find bottles already reduced by 86%, that public discount will beat the 5% code. For example, a selected wine originally priced at $100 reduced by 86% costs $14, a saving of $86; the 5% voucher applied to the original $100 would leave $95, a saving of $5, so the clearance price is far lower when that reduction is available.
If your cart mixes clearance and non clearance bottles: do the math on the checkout totals. The clearance items will have their reduced prices and the 5% code can apply to the overall order only if the site allows stacking; the terms shown do not state stacking rules, so treat the clearance price as already reduced and compare the final totals before entering any code.
Newsletter signup for special offers: signing up may get you future promotions and is worth doing if you are a first time customer or plan repeat purchases, but no immediate discount amount is stated with the signup offer, so do not expect a guaranteed instant saving at checkout.
When choosing, compare the final totals: use the 5% off voucher at checkout for mixed or standard carts and choose the clearance deal when the specific bottles you want show a marked down price, since an 86% reduced bottle will cost far less than applying 5% to its original price. No terms here state that the voucher and the sale combine, so assume the sale price stands on its own and pick whichever leaves you with the lower total.
