Medium sized order of selected styles: When the product you want is in the 10% Off selected styles promotion, that 10% will beat the 3% code. For example, on an $80 selected style, 10% off reduces the price to $72, a saving of $8. The 10% deal applies to products marked as part of that promotion.
Mixed cart or non sale items: If your cart contains items not covered by either sale, or a mix of sale and non sale items where the savings from the sale lines do not clearly beat a small universal discount, use the 3% promo code to get a straightforward reduction on the entire purchase. For example, on a $50 order of non sale items the code takes 3% off, lowering the total to $48.50 and saving you $1.50.
