Monthly plans are active for a period of 30 days from the moment your order is processed. After 30 days, charges apply to the credit card or the PayPal account saved in your account. This way, your plan will be renewed automatically each month until you decide to cancel the service.
If you already have a plan and need to upgrade or downgrade it, you can choose another one on the website (if available) without any penalties. Use the option "Change plan" in your account. The new plan will be active immediately after the purchase, and the day you change your plan will become the starting date of your new billing cycle. It only takes seconds.
